Navratri / Durga Puja

Nine nights of worship honouring the nine forms of Goddess Durga.

About the Ritual

Navratri is a nine-night festival dedicated to the worship of the nine forms (Navadurga) of the Goddess, culminating in Durga Puja or Vijayadashami, celebrating the victory of good over evil.

Why to Perform

Each of the nine nights is devoted to a different aspect of the divine feminine, invoking strength, wisdom, prosperity and protection. It is one of the most widely observed festivals across India, marked by fasting, puja, garba/dandiya, and community celebration.

Who Should Perform

Observed by families and communities together; a priest typically conducts the daily puja and the Kalash Sthapana at the start of the festival.
